CONTINUE TO ENJOY THE MONTH OF RAMADAN

A spiritual and above all festive period, the month of Ramadan turns into a painful month for some childless men and women.

The month of Ramadan is  a month of hope, spirituality with a capital S, and of making wishes, a lot of wishes even if it is forgiveness that we should be seeking first.

Sura 97, evoking the month of Ramadan, often translated as « Destiny », promises us an army of angels as close as possible to us, one night in particular. According to some commentaries on this Surah, the events of the year for each of us are set during this month.

A spiritual and above all festive period, the month of Ramadan is transformed into a painful month for some women and men without children . Indeed, for twenty-nine or thirty days, well-intended relatives and acquaintances promise to pray for you, depending on your circumstances. They will pray for you to get a husband even if you don’t want one, to have children even if you don’t want any, and even when you begin to mourn after a miscarriage or the announcement of infertility.

This month can also bring back bitter memories. These months of Ramadan when we prayed, asked, implored and then… nothing.

 Hindsight… if possible

You’ve probably looked back and said to yourself, « Oh! At that time, I wished for this or that, I prayed for that  and in the end it never happened and probably never will! »

Looking back, we are often satisfied that the wish did not come true.

But hindsight can be complicated to achieve depending on the people around you, the environment in which you live and your status as childless person: by circumstances or by choice, single or in a couple.

Here, there is no miracle recipe, but a reminder:  remember that the Divine has never promised to fulfil all our wishes. However, He does let us know that He is close to us at all times. We are closer to him (the human being) than his own jugular vein .(Qur’an 50:16.)
